When life feels tough, we can work together to create a new tomorrow

Just like throwing a pebble into a pond, healing from trauma starts small but sends ripples of change through your entire being, transforming your life.

Welcome to Trauma Healing Centre

"Trauma is a fact of life. It does not, however have to be a life sentence" – Peter Levine

Trauma, much like a physical wound, deeply affects the nervous system and requires more than just time or words to heal.

You may have tried to numb the pain, only to find that you’ve also numbed your joy. Living in survival mode might feel like second nature, yet deep down, you yearn to feel fully alive again. Even if you've sought help through talk therapy, you might still feel stuck.

Let us assure you, your trauma is not a life sentence; it’s an injury that can be healed. By addressing the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects of your trauma, you can mend your nervous system and unlock your inner strength to create the life you truly desire.

Even if you don't recognise a specific trauma, feeling broken, stuck in feelings of guilt, shame, and self-blame, or numbing and avoiding your pain are signs that your nervous system needs support and healing. Overwhelming feelings of anxiety, low mood, anger, irritability, feeling small and silent, or difficulty concentrating are also signals. Perhaps you're tired of feeling stuck on the merry-go-round of life, repeating the same patterns, attracting the same unhealthy relationships, and making the same decisions without knowing how to change. Maybe you want to understand yourself better—why you feel, think, or behave the way you do.

I'm here to help you break free from these cycles and support you on your journey to healing and self-discovery.

Our mission is to help you not just survive, but truly thrive. With warmth and compassion, we are here to support you on your journey to healing and rediscovering peace and joy.

Our Services

At the Trauma Healing Centre, we understand that long after a traumatic event is over, the body continues to respond as if the danger were ever-present, as Janina Fisher eloquently states.

Trauma is a deeply personal experience that can stem from a variety of distressing events such as natural disasters, exposure to war, accidents, crimes, physical and sexual assaults, witnessing a traumatic event, family violence, adverse childhood experiences, abandonment, abuse and neglect. These experiences can profoundly impact your psychological, physical, social, spiritual, and emotional well-being.

Trauma is often remembered more through our emotions and body reactions than through words. Symptoms may include, but are not limited to: Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)or (Complex-PTSD) depression, anxiety and panic attacks, hypervigilance, anger, dissociation, addictions self-harm and suicidality.

It's been a turbulent journey through darkness to a destination filled with light, hope and inner peace
Christine Griffin

I became a therapist because I know the pain of suffering alone, and I truly believe that healing is possible for everyone. Whether you recognise past trauma or are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, angry, stuck in repetitive patterns or just sick of people pleasing. I am here to help you break free and heal.

My journey has fostered a deep empathy that allows me to truly understand and relate to the challenges you may be facing. My approach is built on warmth, compassion, and respect for each person's unique experience. I offer a range of therapeutic techniques designed to meet you where you are and help you move forward at your own pace.

In our sessions, you'll find a warm, safe, and compassionate presence. Whether you are just beginning to explore your past or are well on your way to healing, I am here to guide you. Even if trauma is not immediately identified, I have the ability to delve deeper and uncover underlying issues, helping you to thrive.

I invite you to reach out, connect, and take the first step towards healing. Together, we can navigate the path to a brighter, more peaceful future. Your story matters, and your healing begins now.

My goal is to help you not just survive, but truly thrive. Invest in your future and take the courageous step towards a healthier, more fulfilling life. You don't have to navigate this journey alone—let's embark on it together.

Our trauma recovery counselling helps individuals manage overwhelming emotions and regain control over their lives. We focus on empowering you to not only cope with but also overcome the symptoms of trauma, promoting resilience and personal growth. We provide a safe space for individuals to explore their feelings without fear of judgment or re-traumatisation. Importantly, it is not necessary to discuss the traumatic event until stabilisation occurs, ensuring you are emotionally and physically prepared. By prioritising safety and stabilisation, trauma counselling at our centre helps you build a resilient foundation for effective healing and well-being.

Trauma compromises our ability to engage with others by replacing patterns of connection with patterns of protection
Stephen Porges

I never thought that what I feel today was possible. Having suffered from PTSD for 20 years, I can now say I am living. I have the tools and strategies to manage my triggers, I feel more in control of my life and the choices I make. Thank you Christine for your knowledge, understanding and compassion.

I have learnt to recognise trauma triggers and how to step myself through situations where I have been triggered. I'm learning to sit with uncomfortable feelings and knowing that I will be ok. I've learnt that I am a valued human and I deserve good things that come my way. I've also learnt that it's ok to not feel ok at times

My experience has been a journey of rediscovering myself, allowing me to laugh and cry. I have learnt to say "no" without feeling guilty. I am learning how my past has affected me today and learning from my past mistakes, not allowing them to dictate my life, I am feeling empowered and living for today.

Even though my life is painful and challenging right now, having your support and understanding has made it easier. The techniques to manage difficult emotions and panic I’ve learned from you have been really helpful in this. I think, for me, I needed someone who was kind and compassionate so that I was able to really delve into the most frightening corners of myself but also to recognise and celebrate the better parts of myself too. I gained the capacity to traverse the rocky terrain of life in our sessions but also the ability to be kind to myself when I trip and fall.

Welcome to the Trauma Healing Centre, a sanctuary for those seeking to heal from past trauma and adversity. I'm Christine Griffin, and I founded this centre to provide a safe, nurturing space for your healing journey.

Having navigated my own path through trauma and recovery, I understand the transformative power of healing. This deeply personal experience fuels my passion for supporting others as they embark on their own paths to recovery.

With a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science (Counselling) and nearly 15 years of dedicated work as an experienced counsellor in Shepparton, I specialise in supporting survivors of trauma and complex trauma. My holistic approach integrates body-oriented trauma therapy, honouring everyone’s individual unique journey.

I have received extensive training from some world-renowned experts in the trauma field, including Bessel van der Kolk, Janina Fisher, Peter Levine, and Pat Ogden. I utilise various therapeutic modalities such as sensorimotor psychotherapy, Somatic practices, Cognitive Behavioural and Dialectical Behavioural Therapies, Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Polyvagal Theory. My focus lies in restoring nervous system health, empowering individuals to reclaim their inner strength, guiding them towards internal freedom and living authentically.
